Let me start by saying I come from a Puerto Rican & Cuban family and all of this food is a taste of HEAVEN!! Absolutely delicious and full of FANTASTIC flavor!! Since they opened I want nothing more than to eat there every SINGLE DAY!! It is a memory of my Dad and his side of the family...I look forward to MANY MANY MANY meals and getting food catered for parties in the future...the food is a MUST and if in question you definitely NEED TO ORDER!! The owner and staff were so friendly and spectacular it is such a nice new welcome to the Lindenhurst area...Island Empanada we all look forward to seeing you in many years to come!!

Tried this place for the first time today. Got the dinner special. I got chicken with cheese, loaded potato and shrimp & mango salsa empanadas. All three were good, surrounded by a light flaky crust. The shrimp & mango salsa one was rather odd - sweet, almost like a dessert. The rice & beans was also good. I'll have to stop here again and try the beef empanadas.

UPDATE I spoke with Pete who has proven a care for his employees along with customer service being a main priority!! Thank you Pete for responding to my previous statement, it was a pleasure speaking with you. This review is not based on the quality of the food. This is based on the work ethic of the employees. Mainly a female employee who when I walked in was so sound asleep head down on the table that she didn’t hear me say hello until my sixth LOUD hello! She proceeded to get up run in the back without acknowledgement of my existence then a man came out from back took my order she came up and packed it.....

The Empanadas (pastelillos) were amazingly delicious.

Food was great but the staffs kindness was even better. I met one of the owners at the bagel store and he was so kind and knowledgeable it made me go order empanadas after I already order our bagels. Even during grand opening madness they were attentive to every customer and made sure every one was happy before the left. Again it helps that everything was absolutely delicious.

The food was delicious, especially the Chicken Bacon Ranch empanada! The rice, beans, and sweet plantains were also very tasty! The staff was quick and very professional, will definitely be back!

I'm so happy they opened up I additional location. These are my favorite empanadas. I want to go back already. So many varieties, even dessert options. Don't forget to try the plantains, they're sweet.

I absolutely love Island Empanada and I was so excited when I heard they were opening up one in Lindenhurst. As always the food was awesome! I always have to get the Mini Mac and Cheese balls and my absolute favorites the Spinach Feta and Spicy Cheese empanadas.
